A Very Hot Day
2nd-May-2010 03:47 pm
Working
- Characters: free for all
- Setting: the office, midafteroon
- Plot Summary: The weather is awful and everyone just wants to GO HOME.

Angela leaned back in her chair, waving the paper fan she had made back and forth, back and forth. She usually hated leaving work early but this was just too unbearable. Leaning forward and wiggling the computer mouse, Angela checked weather.com - SCRANTON, PA - 94 DEGREES - and realized that seeing the temperature really wasn't helping.

At least Dwight had fixed her air conditioning at her house the other day. She was surprised at how pleasant he had been - he had fixed it up quick and they headed to La Trattoria for dinner. Italian food was something the two of them could agree on - it could accommodate both of their tastes. And yes - air conditioning! She began daydreaming about going home and working on the sweater she was knitting. Sweaters. Cold weather. Mmm. If only Michael would let them go home.

[[sorry for the inbox spam, fixing a typo D:]]

Angela raised an eyebrow as Meredith walked past her desk, but realized she really couldn't blame the woman this time. It was much too hot. She was tempted to remove her buttondown shirt as she was wearing a camisole underneath, but bare shoulders were not appropriate for work. Sighing, she pulled her hair into a ponytail, as high as possible to keep the hair off of her neck.

She swung around in her chair and scanned the room. Stanley had set up a small battery operated fan, and was hunched over in front of it doing a crossword. Dwight had loosened his tie and unbuttoned the first couple buttons of his shirt. Angela quickly looked away. Next to her, Oscar was folding a paper fan out of some cardstock. "This is ridiculous," he commented to her. "It's barely May!"

Angela sighed. "I know. I wish Michael would let us go home." Oscar set down his cardstock and turned toward her, looking shocked. Angela then realized that she normally wouldn't say such a thing, but...it was much too hot. "I mean, obviously we should make it up another day. After all, work is important, we all have to work our fair share." Oscar rolled his eyes and returned to his paper fan.

Creed was not about to just sit there and take this heat. He was going to request to leave as he had a doctors appointment.

"Hey Boss", he said to Michael.

"I have to leave, I have doctors appointment for my missing toe".

"You can't leave until the expense reports are done," Michael responded and shook his head, wrapping his arms across his chest and walking just as slowly as he possibly could back to his office.

Anything to put off those damn expense reports. He was procrastinating as much as anyone would expect him to: he hated doing actual work.

Angela couldn't take it much longer. She heaved a huge sigh and Oscar gave her an odd look. "I've never seen you bored at work," he commented.

"I'm NOT bored," Angela retorted. "It is simply much too hot in here." Oscar rolled his eyes again.

Angela leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. As much as she hated leaving work early, maybe she could come up with an excuse to leave. What could she say to Michael to let her leave early, though?

Creed was not happy with this response. What was up with the boss? He usually let him go no questions asked. Maybe he was onto him?

"Ok boss", replied Creed and walked back to his desk.

He supposed he could just steal Phylis' fan ...
